Prior to joining the firm, Brendan represented teachers and other public school employees for 14 years at the Massachusetts Teaches Association. At the MTA, Brendan negotiated over 100 collective bargaining agreements and presented the union’s case at arbitration and before the Department of Labor Relations.
Brendan provided collective bargaining training to MTA members at their annual Summer Conference from 2006-2018. He was invited as a panel speaker to the 2009 and 2010 NEA National Association of
Bargaining Professionals Conference.
Through his experience, Brendan has developed an expertise in municipal health insurance. He served as the lead negotiator for municipal unions bargaining many health insurance agreements pursuant to G.L. c.32B, §§19, 21-23.
On the issue of municipal health insurance, Brendan was invited to speak at the 2017 Blue Cross / Blue Shield Public Sector Union Health Care Forum and at the 2015 CLE Public Sector Labor Relations Workshop at Harvard Law School.
Before working for the MTA, Brendan worked for 7 years as a union representative and organizer for SEIU 1199. At 1199, Brendan served as the lead organizer on union organizing drives in hospitals and health care centers and represented RNs and other health care workers at the bargaining table.
